FAQ

Yes! We have two types of coverage actually! We gladly offer a 100 day warranty against any manufacturer damage or defects in materials or workmanship on all products from the date of purchase. Improper fit or 'change of mind' is not valid criteria for warranty.  Damaged or defective merchandise are items that have a noticeable material or workmanship defect that is not caused by standard wear.  See exchange/return info further down.
We also offer 180 day 'DAMN coverage" that applies to ANY breaks, scrapes, snaps and cracks caused by wear and tear!  See 'Damn coverage' below.
Glad you asked! It's unfortunate when you finally get a new pair of sunglasses, only to sit on them or run them over with your car - you'd be surprise to know how often this happens! "Damn" is usually what people yell in such instances! So when customers emailed us with their epic tales of breakage, we couldn't help but feel for them and found ourselves naturally going out of our way to give our personal family discounts away to make customers happy! So we finally talked about it and decided to make it a new offer for all! 'DAMN coverage' means that within 180 days of purchase if you break your glasses, we'll give you 40% off your new pair! We want to see you happy and styling in your Grown Sunglasses!
Of course! You can purchase a Gift Card Here! It's a simple process and our Gift Cards are actually digital codes. You can choose to receive it yourself, or send directly from our website to someone else in an email! If you don't find the gift card amount you need, just Email us!
It is simple! For every purchase that is made GROWN will provide the gift of life to 1 orphaned or injured Australian animal through our giving partner WIRES. This 'Gift' will be taken from our profits, but made on your behalf, and You will receive an official thank you gift.  People always ask where specifically does our contribution to WIRES go.  The specific animal that needs help will always change from day to day and season to season, but for example, in the case of a baby ringtail possum, nutritional requirements and care will be funded for 16 weeks due to your purchase of 1 pair of sunglasses!
Although we started the company working alongside the Fred Hollows Foundation to fund sight-restoring eye surgery (actually in our first 6 months we funded eye-surgery for over 1000 people!), we decided to change it up and support a different cause that was equally as close to us. In 2013 we started working with WIRES as our main giving partner in Australia. however, our North American and European branches continue to support sight-restoration projects with our their partner, SEVA Canada.
As a standard, all Grown wooden eyewear comes with European Conforming (CE) UV 400 (100% UVA/UVB) lenses with infused Polarizing filters. Our Tac Lenses are chosen because of their superior optical clarity, impact resistance and ability to eliminate visible glare (both atmospheric and reflective) which improves sharpness and makes colors more vibrant.
Polarized lenses are ideal for anyone who wears sunglasses outdoors. The polarizer filter has been produced to eliminate atmospheric and reflective glare (water, car hoods, windows, etc..). Those who wear polarized lenses will notice a drastic reduction in glare, and an improvement in both colour vibrancy and sharpness. They are most popular with drivers, boaters, fisherman and skiers or snowboarders. Though they are for everyday use.
Sure!  We pride ourselves on providing sustainable & ethically sourced raw materials.  While the majority of our wood is from FSC certified plantations and managements, we also seek wood that is from fallen trees or that can be repurposed, where possible.  The products in our Adventure line are made using a revolutionary Plant-based acetate (Ecotate®) and derived from organic materials. The frames from our Ecotate® Collection are 100% biodegradable, 100% recyclable and 100% eco-friendly.  Read more about specific materials below:
Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants in the world and is harvested only when the culms reach their greatest strength, and are mature. This ensures that the cultivation will have no impact on other species who rely on the Bamboo for nourishment. The Bamboo we typically use for our sunnies are Native to SouthEast Asia, and come in both natural and stained colours.
Zebrawood - Named after its resemblance to the striping of a Zebra, Zebrawood (also 'zebrano' or 'zingana'), is imported from Central Africa, (Gabon, Cameroon, and Congo). Zebrawood is pale brown with regular or irregular marks of dark brown that create an exciting alternating colour pattern!
Ebony, is a well know hardwood and is typically selected for it's durability. Native to parts of India, Indonesia and Africa, Ebony wood is similar to zebrawood in appearance as they both have beautifully alternating patterns. Ebony however, is darker in appearance with more brown and black tones.
Canadian Maple that we use is typically in the form of 7 ply skateboard laminate. This durable hardwood is abundant in Northeastern Canada and grows as far south as Georgia. Maple has a consistent grain, making it ideal for staining and polishing.
Redwood is used for its color and grain, and because redwood is the fastest growing conifer!  Most of the redwood we use is either fallen or re-purposed or sourced directly from FSC certified managed forestlands in California.
Most people are surprised that the weight of our wooden sunglasses is actually 33% lighter than their regular sunglasses. Our sunglasses will hug your head and fit you as good or BETTER than any mainstream or plastic sunglasses!
It all depends how well you treat them! GROWN® sunglasses are very strong and have undergone standardized pressure testing and even 15m drop tests.  That being said,  sitting directly on them, or putting them under unnatural force will probably be the end of them!  Our products are all made of durable bamboo or multi and cross-grain layered hardwoods which are chosen for their long lasting and visual characteristics. Grown eyewear is made to last for as long as you maintain them! That being said, there are a few tips to help maintain and preserve your wooden glasses in their most pristine form:
To get the most from your purchase, we suggest that you do not leave your sunglasses in extreme hot or cold temperatures for extended periods as this may affect the protective coating. Always try to store your wood eyewear in the provided soft pouch & hard tube, especially when putting them in a purse for example.  Clean the lenses with microfiber material to help protect against scratches to your lens.
When removing the sunglasses, avoid getting in the habit of removing with one hand pulling to one side as this may put unneeded pressure on the spring hinge (this goes for all eyewear!)
Yes! .. and most can even float! That being said, you should try to keep them dry when you can or dry them off if they do get wet. Rinse with freshwater if in contact with saltwater.  Now go grab your water gun and enjoy your water proof wood sunglasses!
We mean that All materials are sustainably sourced from plantations in various parts of the World. This means that when the wood or Bamboo has reached maturity, they are cut and replanted to continue the cycle. Besides being Certified ourselves, all of GROWN's material suppliers are also certified by the FSC. This verification is part of the process we take to ensure that our resources come only from ethically sourced and managed forests which are bound by the sustainable forestry management standards of the FSC.
To ensure a long lasting and continuously eco-friendly project, Grown participates in the carbon offset program. We seek to become carbon neutral each year by balancing our carbon emissions through helping to pay for the creation of renewable energy, landfill gas recovery and tree planting ventures.

Troubles with your credit card payment? Sometimes this happens when the billing address does not match the shipping address.  You may need to call your credit provider for assistance.  When using a visa or mastercard gift card, we have seen a few instances where they are declined.  This is usually due to the fact that there is no billing address associated with the card.  It is an error that is out of our control, but again best to contact the credit provider for assistance.
